Traditional Paints

Stairwell Using the correct paint for the job makes the difference in producing a high class finish. For this reason Cotswold Colors use a variety of different traditional paint manufacturers. For example Dulux, Crown, Johnsons, Farrow & Ball to name a few.

I will be happy to advise the paint specification during a consultation, but will also discuss and advise on a customer's preferred paint.

Eco Paints

Conventional paints can contain solvents and biocides which include formaldehyde and also other petro-chemical components which can have an adverse affect on human health. In the past VOCs (Volitile organic compounds) were necessary in the make up of paints. VOCs are emitted from solids and liquids which also contain a carbon chain. Many carbon containing substances are extremely volatile and can build up in indoor spaces. Indoor spaces can have 5 times the concentration of VOCs than outdoor spaces. Paint containing high VOCs can release toxic emissions for years after application. However, due to changing technology, paints no longer need solvents and high VOCs for a high performance.

According to European standards, an environmentally friendly paint should contain less than 5% VOCs. There is no difference between Eco paints and conventional solvent based paints either in application or durability. There is however, a difference in the toxic emissions released into the atmosphere and in the effect on the environment.

Kitchen Eco Paints (types)

  1. Chemical - Reduced or low VOCs - legislated in UK - can have solvent replaced by other chemicals.
  2. Mineral - Natural minerals, rocks, ores. eg Limewash which lasts hundreds of years.
  3. Plant - dammar resin, linseed oil
Happy Clients

My wife and I have known Mr Copeland since we moved to Cheltenham ten years ago. He was highly recommended to us by our builder, who had carried out a complete renovation of our period property.

We found Mr Copeland's work to be of excellent quality in every respect. His knowledge of decorating products and their application is extensive and he also keeps up to date with the latest advances in paint technology. Mr Copeland is extremely thorough with the preparation work and his attention to detail at every stage is meticulous. Furthermore, customer satisfaction is his priority.

My wife and I have moved several times over the last ten years and on each occasion Mr Copeland has been employed to carry out all our decorating work. Our most recent project was the construction of a five bedroom detached house which was completed in 2007. Mr Copeland's advice on the right choice of product for each task was invaluable and his interior and exterior decorating work was, as always, of the highest standard.

Mr Copeland is very polite, respectful, reliable and punctual and it has been a pleasure to have him working on our properties.

We have no hesitation therefore, in recommending Mr Copeland to other prospective customers.

Mr and Mrs B.J. Rich

About Us

Cotswold Colors is a newly formed business. However, I have been a Painter & Decorator for almost 30 years working in various parts of the Country and operating for the last 10 years as K A Copeland Property Maintenance. 90% of my contracts have been in Painting & Decorating with the remainder general maintenance on the same buildings.

The new business name was chosen deliberately to emphasise the type of work I specialise in. The most recent contracts have been restoring a 60 room villa in Cheltenham which included all interior and exterior decoration. Also all interior and exterior decoration of a newly built property in Cheltenham with finishes to a high specification. My recent work also includes upgrading of hotel bedrooms in two local hotels and interior finishing of buildings at the Fire Training College in Moreton in Marsh.
